18th Century
Height 34 x width 42 x depth 19 1/2 inches.
Condition
Decoration is 18th century. Tight age split spanning the width of the top; back half of the top is slightly loose (originating at point of split), back left corner of top attached to case with a modern screw. Generally heavy surface wear to the top in the form of scratches, nicks and some warping consistent with age. Exposed nail protruding from the proper-right back corner. Some evidence of worming to the upper back board. Hardware is replaced. Drawers stick slightly upon opening and closure. Scattered age splits and surface wear to the feet consistent with age. Deposit of what appears to be white paint to the top and a deposit of turquoise-colored paint to the base. Lower segments of back feet have been replaced. Evidence of worming to the underside. Areas of loss to edges of drawers. Bottom drawer with repaired break to lower right corner of front. The wood has been tested and is determined to be birch, with white pine as the secondary wood.
