An Empire Style Gilt and Patinated Bronze and Marble Clock Garniture
Charles Oudin, Paris, 19th Century
the figural mantel clock cast to show Hermes, the dial signed Ch. Oudin/ Palais Rue à Paris, the movement stamped Ches. Oudin/ et Fils/ à Paris/ Médaille d'Or/ 1827 and with stamped numbers 3053 and 843; together with a pair of associated three-light figural candelabra.
Height of mantel clock 27 1/4 x width 18 3/4 x depth 7 3/4 inches.
Condition
With pendulum and key. The clock and candelabra are likely associated. Height of candelabra 18 1/2 inches.
The candelabra appear in good, stable condition. Gilt decoration bright. Hermes figure on clock with a yellowish-brown patina with some areas of rubbing to patina. Areas of restoration to marble on base. Clock takes a wind and appears to run with the bell striking at the half and full hour. Not tested for accuracy nor duration. Bell lacking nut to secure to works. Additional images available upon request.
