Provenance
Note:
A staple of Chicago's dining scene since 1974, Lawry's The Prime Rib has become intertwined with the landmark status of its location in the McCormick Mansion. Contributing to the building’s legacy of hosting, inaugurated by its original owners L. Hamilton McCormick and Constance Plummer McCormick and followed by the transformation of the private home into a nightclub, then restaurant and puppet theater, Lawry's The Prime Rib made the McCormick Mansion its first satellite location outside of its base in California. Returning the home's architecture to its original English manor taste with a modern sense after having been remodeled by intermediate owners, Lawry's The Prime Rib established itself as a worthy steward of the mansion. Following its closure in December of 2020, many of the furnishings that shaped the restaurant's ambiance for longtime customers are featured throughout this auction.
