An English Silver Mounted Cut-Glass Claret Jug
William Hutton & Sons, Sheffield, 1911
hallmarked for Sterling on side of neck
together with a silver-plate example marked for Mappin & Webb.
Height 9 1/2 inches.
Condition
The taller example with the sterling mount in overall fine, stable condition. One minor fleabite chip to the glass. The handle and lid in sturdy condition, with some light areas of tarnish and surface scuffs consistent with use and polishing, but no dents or losses. The hinge in working order. The shorter, silver-plate mounted example in fair condition, with significant internal debris/residue to the glass, as well as chips around the foot. The mount in stable condition with no losses to the silver plating.
