Description
A Louis XV Model O Series Parlor Grand Steinway Piano
CIRCA 1915
serial number 178561; the carved walnut case with acanthus-headed cabriole legs terminating in scrolled feet raised; made by Steinway & Sons, New York and Hamburg; together with a piano bench.
Height 39 1/4 x width 58 x depth 69 1/2 inches (closed).
Condition
The case is in good condition overall considering age and use. There are a few minor scuffs to the finish and there are minor abrasions and small losses to the carved decoration. The legs are sturdy and carved from solid mahogany. The soundboard is free of cracks and appears to be in good condition. The piano strings are tarnished but appear to be sturdy and intact. The underside and the interior have some dust and minor surface soiling that is to be expected for a piano of this age. The piano has been played and is not terribly out of tune and the sound it emits is strong and clear. The keys are all slightly discolored from age. The bench is not a match to the piano and is slightly unstable. The bench dates to the last half of the 20th century. Please see condition images for additional information.
Signature
model and serial numbers impressed to the cast iron plate beneath the turning pins above the keyboard; the wood underside engraved "T2240"
