Description
A Set of Seven George III Walnut Dining Chairs
18th Century
Height 38 x width 24 x depth 21 inches.
Property from the Estate of Paula Trienens, Glencoe, Illinois
Condition
Sturdy condition, some of the chairs with slight looseness in the joints, but can be sat on and support weight. Some chairs with replaced seat blocks. The finish appears to be original, with a "matte," un-polished appearance throughout. Some of the chairs have a slightly different color than others due to fading, etc. One chair appears to have restoration to one of its rear stiles, with a darker color (from stain / repair) and with a visible patch of different wood. Another chair has a section broken off from the back of one of its rear legs. One or two of the chairs have some age cracks through their splats and a probably glue repair at the top of bottom of a splat where it meets the crest rail or seat rail. Worm holes, small age cracks, scratches and discolorations are even throughout. The chairs are upholstered as a set of three and two pairs; upholstery is slightly worn and dusty.
