Description
A Rare 1979 Muhammad Ali Commissioned Jostens Gold and Diamond Three Time Heavyweight Boxing Championship Ring
On September 15, 1978, Muhammad Ali defeated Leon Spinks at the Louisiana Superdome to become boxing's first three-time Heavweight Champion of the World. To commemorate The Greatest's revenge against Spinks and this historic achievement, Ali commissioned a limited quantity of championship rings and presented them to his family and closest confidants. Offered here is a ring Ali gifted to a partner of the Chicago-based law firm, Sidley Austin, that represented him. The Jostens ring contains one round brilliant cut diamond weighing approximately 0.90 carat and three round brilliant cut diamonds weighing approximately 0.12 carat total and features the designation:

M. ALI WORLD CHAMP THREE TIMES

The ring's right side names the three fighters Ali defeated for the title inside a boxing glove design:

MUHAMMAD ALI

S. LISTON
G. FOREMAN

'64-'74-'78

The ring's left side features the recipient and matching boxing glove design:
