Condition
The present lot is from a non-smoking home that did not have any pets. The bed is sturdy and presents well. The upholstered headboard was added later and there are some areas of discoloration to the upholstery where the bedposts rested against the fabric.
The gilt and gessoed bedposts are of spiral form with polychrome armorial carvings. The baldachin is carved with acanthus and egg and dart molding. The gilding and paint is faded and rubbed throughout the bedposts, baldachin, and rails, and there are various chips and losses to the gilt and gessoed surface as well as stable age-related shrinkage cracks to the wood. The fabric is in good condition throughout with no noticeable stains, tears, or weak areas.
