An Indian Red Sandstone Stele of Jainism Mahāvīra
Punjab Region, 10th Century
10世紀 旁遮普地區 紅砂岩耆那教大雄坐像
carved with Mahāvīra seated in vajrasana on a cushion which is placed on a rectangular base flanked by a pair of beasts, his face with serene expression, elongated earlobes, curled hairdress and usnisha, flanked by a pair of bodhisattvas and a four vidyadharas above.
Height 18 x width 11 5/8 x depth 5 1/2 in.

Condition
In overall solid and stable condition. Exhibting old instances of loss to the buddha's hands and knees, with wear to his face and lacking portions to the faces of the figures flanking him. Other details throughout likely softened from age. No apparent cracks or signs of fragility.
