A Sèvres Porcelain Teapot and Cover (Théière 'Calabre' et sa Couvercle, 1ère Grandeur)
Circa 1780
bearing blue interlaced Ls enclosing date letters cc below painter's mark of a comma for Méreaud le jeune and incised 6/D; the oviform pot with angled spout, ear handle and slightly domed cover with gilt berry finial, painted with scattered flowers, the shoulder with a blue ribbon entwined with a berried vine and enclosing flowerheads below an orange ground border gilt with oeil-de-perdrix at the mouth of the pot and cover rim.
Height 5 1/8 x width 6 1/4 inches.This lot is located in Chicago.
Condition
In good condition. Having minute wear to gilding at tip of spout and edges of finial leaves. Small, tight firing crack to underside of handle at top. Examination under UV light does not show evidence of restoration. Additional images available upon request.
