** Luxembourg Contract FN-49 Sniper Rifle SAFN-49 with Scope in Carrying Case

.30-06. 23.2" barrel length. SN: 7187. Black Parkerized and painted finish with walnut semi pistol grip stock mounting a walnut cheek piece and a full length upper handguard retained by two barrel bands. Short stroke piston gas operated rifle utilizing a tilting bolt design and a scope mount affixed to the left receiver. The top of the receiver shows the AL marking indicative of the Luxembourg contract, along with the {Crown/N} and {Le Perron} proof markings. Further firing proofs visible on the bolt carrier and bolt. The right receiver is marked FABRIQUE NATIONALAE D'ARMES DE GUERRE-HERSTAL-BELGIQUE. The serial numbers on the receiver, the stock, bolt carrier, bolt, and receiver cover match. The assembly number 08 appears on the right receiver and the left edge of the scope mount. Scope mount is additionally marked 58. Comes with a telescopic sight mounted to the correct scope mount marked ECHO/E. C. HERKNER CO./BOISE. IDAHO. The scope itself is marked A.B.L.-1951/V5-0S 784-010B.G./TIR.EL.TELESC.SCHERPSCH./No1047. Scope comes in a matching leather carrying case with leather lens covers. Neither the case nor the lens covers show manufacturer markings. The trapdoor butt is void of tools. It is estimated that Luxembourg received fewer than 10,000 FN-49 pattern rifles under contract from FN, with fewer still completed as factory sniper rifles. The item is essentially mechanically identical to a standard FN-49 save for the addition of the scope, mounting, and the cheek rest.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.
