Contemporary Smoothbore Flintlock Jaeger Rifle 

John B. Derrick (American, b.1936)

.50 caliber. 32" octagonal to round barrel. SN: NSN. Finish left in the white. Walnut stock has carved foliate rococo scroll and incised lines to butt and forearm, with carved horn forend. Smoothbore flintlock rifle with notch rear sight, brass blade front sight, double set triggers, and a patchbox on right side. Stock is furnished with wax-cast brass fittings of rococo scroll intertwined with grotesques, a demon mask to top of wrist and triggerguard. Includes a brown leather sling and horn tip ramrod. Lock is without flint and is instead fitted with a small wood block.

Condition
Good to very good. Bore is bright, with some oxidation and residue toward muzzle. Finish shows some scattered pit marks and light patina developing. Wood stock is in good condition. Action is functional.
