[BLACK PANTHER PARTY]. Newspapers, press photos, and original flyers related to protests and programs involving the Black Panther Party and its members.

Detroit is a Labor/Black Town / Fight Klan Terror! Detroit: Allied Printing, ca 1979. 8 1/2 x 11 in. printed flyer (creasing, toning, small rips to edges). Flyer announces a rally in Kennedy Square on 10 November at 1:00 and urges, "Be There!" A pair of halftone images are featured in upper portion, labelled "This..." and "...or this!" the first showing black and white labor militants working together to oust KKK members from River Rouge, the second showing an Anti-Klan protester being beaten by cops. Text below explains the the need for the rally, in part: The Klan said they're turning up in Kennedy Suare to celebrate their Greensboro, North Carolina killings! We're going to Kennedy Square to oppose Klan terror and murder!" An image of the flyer was featured in the 23 November 1979 issue of the Workers Vanguard, which said of the rally, in part: "[it was] not as big as what was needed—far from it." -- The Purpose of the Free Clothing Program. [Philadelphia], n.d. 8 1/2 x 11 in. printed flyer on blue paper (light creasing, toning to edges). Printed images of a small child wearing rags and a group of people receiving free clothing surround text explaining the program. In part: "The Black Panther Party realizes that the basic necessities of our People are not being met by the greedy businessmen and the pig power structure. One of these necessities is clothing...The clothes for the program are provided through donations from People in the community, merchants who see their responsibility to the community and cleaners who are overstocked with unclaimed outfits. Party member and community People wash and iron the donated items and then, only then, are they distributed to the people." -- People's Free Clothing Program. [Philadelphia]. Large printed image of people sorting through donated clothing is featured at center, with slogan below: "Survival Through Service to the People." -- And 3 other Black Panther printed materials including We Will Have the Constitutional Convention, a flyer promoting the Mark Clark Memorial Clinic, and a postcard announcing the 35th Anniversary and Reunion of the Black Panther Party at the University of District of Columbia on 18-20 April 2002. -- Together, 6 printed items.
