Jay writes to Mr. J. Dewitt Miller at Cross River, [NY], in full: "I have to thank you for your note of [the 1st of September?], and to say that I will be happy to see J[?] at a meeting of the Bedford Farmers Club on Friday the 21st of September at 2 o'clock to be held at the Jay Farm."
