"color: rgb(73, 80, 87);">With:] HUGO, William H. (1833-1905). Pay voucher for 1st Lieut. William H. Hugo, 9th U.S. Cavalry. 21 January 1875. 1p, 8 1/2 x 11 in. (creasing, light toning). Hugo was a Civil War veteran who was injured at the Battle of Gettysburg. After the war he commanded the 9th U.S. Cavalry regiment of the United States Army, one of the four segregated African American regiments known as the "Buffalo Soldiers."
