[CIVIL WAR]. Two documents recording the sale of land in Georgia to the Confederate States of America.


Manuscript copy of a deed recording the sale of approximately 128 acres of land bordering the Savannah River to the Confederate States of America, by Thomas Heckle of Richmond County, GA, for $11,000 (toning, creasing, spotting, light edge wear). 7 December 1861. Includes hand-drawn plat and certification from Lafayette M. Laws, Superior Court Clerk dated 24 May 1866.

Manuscript copy of a deed recording the sale of 4 lots consisting of a total of approximately 4 acres of land in Macon to the Confederate States of America, by the Mayor and Council of the City of Macon, for $8,010 (chipping to edges, toning, creasing). 20 November 1862. Recorded 3 December 1862 and docketed on separate leaf. The land purchased by the CSA is described in multiple places as "square above armory."
