An interesting portrait of two young women seated together at a makeshift table, surmounted by a book which appears to have a checkerboard pattern on one side. One of the women has her hand placed on one of the checkers, preparing to make a move. (Minor spotting, some surface imperfections, else good; unsealed.) Housed in a scarce Union wall frame, Geometric [Berg 7-43] (some chipping to edges and corners).
Plate verso bears written inscription, "Carrie Sellers & Fannie Pointin[?] 1863."
