identified A.B. Collette and depicting a soldier in a field holding a rifle and flag.
maker's mark to underside.
Height 4 inches.
According to Civil War compiled service records, Canadian-born Aldrick Collette (1846-?) initially enlisted with the Union, serving as a private in Co. D, 16th US Infantry. Curiously, Collette seemingly jumped ship later in the war on November 6, 1864, when he reenlisted in Florence, South Carolina, and served as a private with Co. B., Brooks' Battalion, Confederate Regular Infantry.
