Description

Non-Firing Reproduction Indian Made Pattern 1853 Enfield With Tag Attributing it to the North and South Miniseries

.64 smoothbore (non-firing). 35" barrel secured by three rounded screw clamping bands. SN: I231. Blued finish, brass furniture, hardwood stock. Non-Firing historically inaccurate replica of an Enfield Rifle Musket. Form is closer to the guns produced by the British for use by their native colonial troops in India, and not by the British military or in the American Civil War. Fixed front and rear sights, sling swivels, ramrod. Reproduction sling. Hand written tag with attribution to Warner Brothers as use for a prop during the filming of North and South. Barrel with 1984 date, making this possible, but no markings indicate Warner Brothers or any other prop house ownership. Includes a reproduction leather sling.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.

Condition
Good. Moderately oxidized smooth bore. Metal with most of the finish. Markings legible, if poorly struck and executed. Fit and finish is sub-standard overall. Lock mechanically functional. Nipple not drilled through. Wood with low imperfect fit to the metal, showing scattered bumps, dings and mars and a narrow gash at the lower edge of the counterpane.
