A Japanese Satsuma Type Enameled Pottery Momotaro Bowl, Yabu Meizan, Meiji Period

Meiji Period (1868-1912)

Signed Yabu Meizan, the cupped bowl decorated on the exterior with an unusual continuous scene depicting Momotaro emerging from his peach, and as an older boy, with his compatriots with heads of dog, pheasant, and monkey, subduing demons, above a border of brocade lappets, interior with "Thousand Butterflies", centered by a chrysanthemum blossom.
