A Highly Decorated Afghan Jezail Rifle with an East India Company Flint Lock

Oxidized bright metal with silver Damascene decoration on the barrel as well as impressed textured patterns, brass mounts,
Middle Eastern hardwood stock profusely decorated with mother of pearl inlays. Smoothbore muzzleloading single shot flintlock Afghan Jezail assembled with a repurposed British East India Company flint lock. Rounded lock with rounded, fenced and bridled pan, and rounded reinforced cock secured with a spanner nut.
Frizzen appears to be a period replacement. Lock marked to the 4th Regiment of the East India Company and dated 1806. Fixed block rear sight, brass post front sight. Classic heavily curved Afghani Jezail pattern butt.
Equipped with a decorative iron ramrod. 49" in overall length. A very attractive and solid example of mid-19th century Jezail assembled with an English lock.
