Flint Box Lock Twist Off Barrel Pistol with Snap Bayonet by Henry Nock
.48 caliber. 3.5" octagonal barrel. NSN. Bright finish, checkered walnut grip. Single shot twist-off barrel rifled flint box lock pistol with sliding pan locking safety, folding trigger, right side mounted 3" blade snap bayonet and left side mounted belt hook. Right side of frame engraved with panoplies of arms, bottom of the frame with London gunmakers proof marks. Top of barrel engraved H NOCK LONDON. Henry Nock worked in London circa 1770 until his death in 1804. During that time he built a number of innovative firearms for the Board of Ordnance including the Nock Volley Gun, his various "inside lock" handguns, carbines and muskets and contracted to produce arms not only for the British Government but also for the British East India Company.
