Martially Inspected Colt Model 1860 Army Manufactured 1863

.44 Cal. 8" barrel length. SN: 121835. Buffed bright finish overall with brass gripstraps mounting walnut one piece grips and German Silver front blade sights. Single action six-shot percussion revolver with loading lever to barrel and rebated cylinder with traces of Orsmby's Naval Engagement scene. Top of the barrel is struck -ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-. Left frame marked COLTS/PATENT. Cylinder retains weak traces of the Naval Engagement scene with legible PAT SEPT 10th 1850 marking. Serial numbers to the cylinder and wedge pin do not match. Martial inspection marks include two D initials on cylinder, W to right barrel, H to forward gripstrap and T to rear. Grips show boxed JH cartouche of Joseph Hannis to right grip and JSD cartouche of civilian inspector John S. Duston. Wedge screw is replaced, as are all but one nipple on cylinder.

Condition
Good as buffed. Bore is Frosty with crisp rifling throughout. Metal finish displays some light mars and nicks on the flanks of the barrel around wedge pin, some light pitting to forward cylinder and around nipples. Mottled gray patina forming on loading lever. Amber patina to forward gripstrap. Grips have been sanded with some light dents and mars. Action is mechanically excellent.
