**Remington Wingmaster Model 870 12 Gauge US Marked
Vietnam War
12 Gauge. 18" barrel length. SN: 986242V. 2.75" chamber length. Cylinder bore. Parkerized metal refinish with black anodized triggerguard, polished bolt, and mounting walnut semi pistol grip stock with ribbed forend and front bead sight. Slide action repeating shotgun fed by a half length tube magazine and featuring dual action bars. Remington marked black synthetic buttplate. Item shows standard Remington marks including Remington Wingmaster/MODEL 870 to the left receiver, two-line address and patent mark to left barrel, and 12 GA. FOR 2 3/4 OR SHORTER SHELLS. Further struck with CYL. marking. Left receiver is stamped U.S. at lower forward edge. Lack of a prefix to the serial number indicates this shotgun was manufactured prior to 1968. Top of the receiver and barrel are struck with P proof markings. Right receiver is hand engraved ICSD 25 with the top of the receiver and left side both repeating the number 25. While this latter number is most likely a rack number, the prefix ICSD does not appear in current reference literature. While the shotgun is produced in the appropriate year range for a Vietnam issued example, the lack of consistent markings among Remington 870 types makes it difficult to verify the authenticity of this item with certainty.
