World War II

7.7x58mm. 25.9" barrel length. SN: 51195. Blued metal finish in wood semi pistol grip stock with spliced toe and featuring late war simplifications from the final range of Type 99 rifles manufactured. Bolt action internal magazine fed repeating rifle with cock on close action mounting fixed rear aperture and barleycorn front blade sights. Left receiver struck with the stacked cannonball marking of Kokura arsenal along with the {Twenty-fifth} series mark, the final series made by Kokura in 1945. Rifle features a wood buttplate nailed in place, a rough unpolished finish to all parts, forge rough cocking piece, and a plum-shaped bolt knob. Cocking piece serial number does not match.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.

From the Collection of Vern Gregg

Condition
Good. Bore is Bright with crisp Metford pattern rifling throughout. Metal finish shows oxidation forming on upper receiver, on the tang, triggerguard, and on the bolt handle and cocking piece. Stock shows some water discolorations to butt, seam of toe splice splitting, and some rounded edges indicative of sanding at some point.
