Description

**Type 99 Arisaka Rifle with Anti-Aircraft Sight, Intact Mum, and Rare Rubberized Canvas "Jungle" Sling

7.7x58mm Arisaka. 26" barrel length. SN: 16626. Blued military finish. Hardwood semi pistol grip stock with grasping grooves. Bolt action rifle with adjustable folding notch anti-aircraft rear sights and blade front sight with ear protectors. Item features a bayonet lug forend, internal magazine, and a rare rubberized canvas "jungle sling" that is marked with kanji in off-color white. Markings include a full mum to receiver.

These WWII-era "jungle" slings were developed by Japanese forces during the Pacific Theater in response to their leather slings rotting away under tropical conditions. These slings were not meant to last and they are very scarce, with most of them having dried out rubber that is often falling apart and in pieces. This one is fully intact.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.

Condition
Fair. Bore is somewhat dark with residue. Finish has scattered scratching, pitting, and losses overall. Wood stock also shows scattered scratches and mars overall. Sling has stiffened, but is still fully intact. Action is functional but may need a good cleaning, bolt is difficult to close possibly due to grease build up.
