**Steyr bnz Code K98 Rifle Dated 1943 Mitchell's Mausers

7.92x57mm. 23.62" barrel length. SN: 8645l. Blued metal refinish with polished bolt and buttplate set in laminated wood semi pistol grip stock. Bolt action internal magazine fed repeating rifle charged by stripper clips and mounting adjustable tangent rear notch and inverted-V front blade sights with front sight protector. Item is struck with a bnz manufacturer code indicating it was manufactured by Steyr-Daimler-Puch A.G., along with a date of 43. Item shows {Eagle/77} waffenamt marks to major parts, and an {Eagle/WaA523} to the left barrel. Standard Mod. 98 marking to the left receiver. Serial numbers match, but the condition of the stock and weakness of refinished marks suggest the stock has been replaced, and some of the serial numbers may have been force matched. There are single rune stamps on the receiver and the magazine floorplate. Comes with a German pattern leather sling. Left barrel is struck with Mitchell's Mausers importation mark. Mitchell's Mausers produced refinished and force matched rifles, and the high desirability of single rune marked guns suggests these marks are most likely reproduction.
