**Winchester Model 1895 Saddle Ring Carbine in .30-40

.30-40 Krag. 21.875" barrel length. SN: 69368. Blued metal finish mounting maple straight wrist stock and walnut half length forend with finger grooves. Lever action repeating rifle featuring a saddle ring to the left receiver and mounting adjustable ladder rear notch and pinned front blade sights. Butt shows an empty port for a sling stud while barrel features a mount for a sling swivel stud that is absent. Standard markings including MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A./PATENTED NOV. 5. 95. NOV. 12. 95. AUG. 17. 97. JAN. 25. 98. AUG. 23. 98. AUG. 5. 1907. Left receiver is drilled and tapped for installing an aperture rear sight base that is not currently fitted. Tang is struck MODEL 1895/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK REG. IN U.S. PAT. OFF. Rifle further shows standard Winchester monogram proofs, and two line nickel steel mark to barrel.

Condition
Good. Bore is dirty with jacket residues and Verdigris that should clean to Frosty or Bright with strong rifling throughout. Metal finish shows some faded blue to the upper flanks of the lever and magazine, and some thin blue to the barrel. A gray patina dominates with mottled brown forming overall. Butt has been sanded and refinished, and leaves gaps at the rear edges of the frame, and some chips to the forward edges of the wrist. Forend has been sanded and shows some dents and stains.
