A Chippendale Mahogany Eight-Leg Camelback Sofa

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Circa 1760-1780

Height 39 3/4 x width 96 x depth 35 inches.

Condition
Frame is maple, underside rails are oak, all four middle legs have been repaired from former breaks- the center left-facing leg with visible pins over the repaired breaks; left-facing front leg slightly splayed; the side stretchers are both slightly coming out of the front side legs; left-facing stretcher with repaired break at junction of rear leg- with patch; three rear stretchers previous cracked and re-glued at junction with two central rear legs; left-facing underside rail has repaired break at rear rail junction, and also stapled; some later nail reinforcements to underside rail attachments at rear rail; nicely reupholstered in contemporary fabric; evidence that the underside of feet had casters
