A George III Mahogany Breakfront Bureau Bookcase
Circa 1780
Height 97 x width 85 x depth 19 1/4 inches.
This lot is located in Chicago.
Condition
Appearing in overall good, stable, and ready to place condition. All glass panels are present and intact. Scattered scuffs, nicks, dark marks, and scrapes consistent with age and use. Filled cracks on the proper left side of the upper case. Two sections of molding on the crown are detached but present. The tooled leather writing surface has been replaced. There are three shelves for each section of the upper cabinet. The interior is refitted with silk. There is a key that works for the cabinets and drawers, but not for the writing surface. Bookcase comes apart for shipment in the following sections: the crown, three upper cabinets, surface diving upper and lower sections, three lower cabinets, and the base. There is some hardware for assembly. Additional images available upon request.
