English 19th Century Cavalry Officer's Mameluke Sword with Brass Scabbard

30" single-edged curved blade, 35.125." in overall length with a 5.125" gilt brass hit with 5.125" ball finial cross guard. Bone grip scales with decorative gilt inserts, missing from the reverse. Blade with traces of etched decorations including flowing foliate patterns, martial themes and panoplies of arms. Includes a brass scabbard with two suspension rings.

Condition
Fair to good. Blade cleaned with etching very weak, showing scattered oxidation, discoloration and some lightly scattered pitting. Hilt with traces of gilt, somewhat loose on the blade with wobble and jiggle. Grip scales with wear, chipping and loss and repaired cracks at the lanyard hole. Grip inserts missing from the reverse of the grip. Scabbard good, cleaned in the past and starting to tone down, showing scattered dings and marks.
