Description

John Oberlies Customized and Sharps Model 1874 Rifle

.45 Caliber. 30" heavy octagon barrel. SN: 156377. Blued finish, bright breech block, color casehardened lever, figured walnut smooth straight grip stock with checkered steel shotgun butt and smooth, semi-Schnabel forend. Single shot falling block Sharps "Old Reliable" Rifle restored and customized by John Oberlies with double set triggers and Oberlies marked tang mounted peep sight with oversized dovetailed front sight blade. Standard Sharps markings, barrel with mismatched serial number 160291 and marked 11 5/16 for 11 pounds, 5 ounces weight. No case length given for the caliber marking, suggesting the chambering is .45-70. A lovely restoration and customization job done by a famous Dayton, OH gunsmith that would likely be a fine long range black powder cartridge competition rifle. Note that due to weight extra shipping costs will apply. {ANTIQUE}
