Manufacturer mark to the top of the barrel reads W.S. CALFEE - BORDEN, IND.

William "Bill" Calfee began his gunsmithing career in the 1970s, and gradually grew more specialized in the world of bench and rimfire precision rifles. Before his passing in 2015, Calfee developed an enduring reputation for building rifles for competition purposes. This rifle represents one of his efforts at producing a more traditional hunting rifle characterized by understated artistry, not unlike the cartoons he became so well known for. {MODERN}
