**Early Production Pre-Model 39 Smith & Wesson 9mm Pistol S/N 1203 in Box

9mm. 4" barrel. SN: 1203. Bright blued carbon steel slide with matted top, blued aluminum frame, checkered walnut Smith & Wesson medallion grips. Double action semi-automatic handgun with removable 8-round magazine. Early, pre-Model 39/39-2 features include no model marking on the pistol, short safety/decocker, long extractor and a small hole in hammer spur. Sights are micrometer adjustable square notch rear and a serrated ramp front. Pistol is accompanied by the blue cardboard Smith & Wesson box that is simply marked SMITH & WESSON/9MM AUTOMATIC/Blue Finish on the end. The box includes a cleaning kit and a spare magazine. Approximately 1600 of these early pistols were shipped without model markings circa 1956-1957. A rare early Smith & Wesson autoloader that was the direct predecessor to today's "wondernines".

Condition
Very fine. Bore fine and bright with excellent rifling. Metal retains nearly all of the blued finish with some very minute surface marks. All markings clear and crisp. Mechanically functional when cycled by hand. Grips fine and crisp with light handling marks. Box with moderate scuffing and wear.
