Condition
Framed dimensions: 42 x 34 inches (each). Each painting appears in overall fairly good, stable, and ready to hang condition. The paint surface of each work is fairly even throughout and without craquelure. The portrait of the gentleman with the canvas somewhat slack on the stretcher, does not appear to be relined. There are minor scuffs in the paint surface and visible areas of touch-up, professional restoration, and inpainting at the top center edge and along the right hand side of the painting. Examination under UV light reveals an area in the lower right quadrant that fluoresces as well at an area above the figure's head that has been touched up. The portrait of the woman has also not be re-lined. The surface with scattered scuff marks in the paint, with a scratch to the left of the woman's face. There are a few areas of restoration and inpainting visible under UV light including the woman's hand resting in her lap and her brooch. Additional images are available upon request.
