Overall attractive condition with surface wear showing possible use outdoors at some point. The head apparently repaired with a visible line of fill around the neck where it is joined to the shoulders. A large old, weathered chip in the tip of the nose and a large old weathered chips and small loss in the front edge of the helmet. Modest encrustations on the tops of the shoulders and the top of the helmet with slightly more weathered patina on those surfaces. With an old iron mounting hook on the back and a drilled hole for a support rod in the bottom. Does not stand securely by itself and will need mounting on a new base with rod. Additional images are available upon request.
Provenance
Provenance:Acquired in Italy in 1949Note:A 1967 inventory of the Halls' collection, written with the help of a Specialist, identifies the bust as having come from Palazzo Doria, Genoa.
