Springfield US Model 1871 Rolling Block Army Rifle
.50-70. 36" barrel. NSN. Bright barrel and furniture, color casehardened receiver, smooth walnut stock and forend secured by two solid, rounded spring-retained barrel bands. Single shot breechloading metallic cartridge rifle with M1868 pattern ladder rear sight, combination musket pattern front sight and socket bayonet lug, sling swivels on the triggerguard bow and upper barrel band and jag head cleaning rod with double swelled shoulders. Standard markings on tang and receiver, dated 1872. Script ESA cartouche on reverse wrist. {ANTIQUE}

Condition
Very good. Bore very good, showing oxidation and frosting with strong rifling. Barrel cleaned to bright with scattered surface oxidation and discoloration and some light surface rust, mostly at the muzzle. Receiver with much of the vibrant case colors intact. Areas of old grease and oil residue are present on the metal as well. Markings clear and crisp, including cartouche. Mechanically functional action. Wood fairly crisp with some light handling marks, and showings some lightly scattered bumps, dings and mars.
