*Custom Jerome Glimm Engraved Mauser Rifle with W.C. Strutz Octagonal Barrel


7x57mm. 26.5" barrel length. SN: 100. Blued metal finish with jeweled bolt featuring engraved embellishments, gold inlaid borders, and mounting highly figured walnut stock with skeletonized buttplate and pistol grip cap. Bolt action internal magazine fed repeating rifle featuring an octagonal barrel and mounting a vintage US made LEUPOLD scope on a BUEHLER/ORINDA, CAL. marked scope base. Upper left receiver displays the engraver marking GliMM ENGR. within wheat chaff scrollwork. Upper left barrel flat displays barrelmaker name W.C. Strutz along with a gold bordered and inlaid caliber marking reading 7 X 57. The receiver displays spiral scroll engraving with a beaded ground with matching engraving flowing over the triggerguard, trigger plate, magazine floorplate, and on the scope mount. The scope base displays wheat chaff scrollwork with spiral scrolls to the rings and sunbursts to the rear securing screw. Matching engraving appears on the cocking piece and rear barrel. Gold inlaid borders appear on the bolt latch, bolt handle and knob, rear barrel, muzzle, magazine floorplate, trigger plate, and triggerguard. Skeletonized butt and semi pistol grip are blued with the walnut beneath exhibiting fine checkering. Stock features fine checkering to the wrist and forend with Fleur de Lis accents and a cheek pad to left butt. Stock mounts front and rear sling swivel studs. The rifle additionally mounts a CHC marked Canjar trigger and safety lever. The use of gold wire inlay and deep spiral scroll engraving are trademarks of engraver Jerome Glimm, a master engraver and charter member of the Firearm Engravers Guild of America. Based out of Montana, Glimm has demonstrated a distinct preference for hand tools throughout his career. {MODERN}

Condition
Excellent. Bore shows some grease and dust throughout that should clean to Very Bright or better with sharp rifling. Metal finish shows faint internal cycling mars with one small nick to the right triggerguard. Small abrasion to the toe of the buttplate. Stock shows an even polish with few small dents to the edge of the cheek pad.
