Provenance
Klein Art Works, Chicago Catalog Note A painter and a ceramicist, Jun Kaneko creates bulbous stoneware sculptures that he calls "dangos," Japanese for "dumpling." Ceramic works in this scale become expressive canvases for painterly glaze applications and bold pattern experiments. The extensive drying time of the clay body allows for months of consideration. Here, long lines of colors contour the composition dotted by a grid of square patches evocative of a cactus form.
