**1918 Dated Mauser Gewehr 98 Rifle with Turkish Stamped Receiver

World War I

7.92x57mm. 29.1" barrel length. SN: 3612c. Blued metal finish overall with polished bolt set in walnut semi pistol grip stock with half length upper handguard and mounting adjustable tangent rear notch and inverted-V front blade sights. Bolt action internal magazine fed repeating rifle charged with stripper clips and mounting front and rear sling loops. Receiver is struck with a {Crescent} marking followed by manufacturer mark reading WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER A.G./OBERNDORF A/N./1918. The rifle further shows Imperial German single Gothic letter inspection stamps, and a German {Reichsadler} mark to the left receiver. Further shows the Gew. 98. model mark to the left receiver. Serial numbers are mixed.

Condition

Good. Bore is Bright with crisp rifling throughout. Metal finish shows some scattered pitting on the edges of the forward receiver, and along the barrel with seam of the forend. Item further displays some scattered oxidation spots, and brown flecking overall. Item additionally displays edgewear. Bolt further shows some brown patina on the handle, and brown spots. Stock has some dents and nicks to the stock overall, and some chips on the upper edges of the forend.
