A Carved and Painted Giltwood Eagle

Attributed to the Artistic Carving Company, Boston, Massachusetts, Circa 1950

With outstretched talons bearing a shield and bannerette, inscribed, "Live and Let Live."

Height 22 x width 72 inches.

Condition
with an age crack to right-facing side at seam (where the wing is seamed), which is visible mostly to back side- the right-most edge at banner with retouching over crack, and the backside with later metal bracing to stabilize crack; left-facing bottom-most feather to tail with repaired break, which is slightly loose; with some other minor occasional retouching; with some occasional minor loss to paint; with some occasional cracquelure to surface
